A well-educated psychiatrist leaves an academic career to work at an institution where his father, a novelist, lived before writing a renowned children's book. Acclimating to his position, he encounters a schizophrenic who helps him to discover the book's secrets and his place in the story.
No reservations. The Core. Paycheck. Thank you for Smoking. Erin Brochovich. And so on and so forth. Aaron pass easily from one role to another. I do not think he is in danger of becoming stereotypes. This is refreshing. Not mean, however, to take something out of his costars. William Hurt and Nick Nolte and Jessica Lange have not been "A-Listers' for some time but still know how to give a powerful performance. I am devoid of a real reference again Ian McKellen and Brittany Murphy, but are firmly andalusia Like other actions, such as Alan Cumming. This DVD film Neverwas is about the dark side of life and how to harass especially in relation to mental illness or the loss of depth. It also highlights the effects on loved ones, particularly children. The triumph of this movie: Neverwas is to make certain what is fact and what is fiction, and yet have the hair that every inch of the way. I highly recommend this little known and highly appreciated by the film. |
If you do not like emotional movies, then you do not see 'Neverwas. If you do not have zero tolerance for over plot holes, then you do not see 'Neverwas. (Moreover, not seeing anything in the movie.) If you do not like the underdog triumphing, no see "Neverwas." If it does, like any of these, then 'Neverwas "is a must see. Ian McClellan was superb as the man who would be king (again). I knew nothing of this DVD film Neverwas until it emerged as the NetFlix "We could enjoy this DivX Movie Neverwas based on your ratings of other movies you liked." I am certainly glad we did. I agree with a comment I read here: The music leaves much to be desired. Not fit the tone of the film. In addition, the DVD was dated 2005 as a date, but both provided on the DVD of the films are both being released in 2007 (one of the Underdog forthcoming). Weird. The plot can go two ways: 1) there Neverwas and King lead the doctor, or 2) Neverwas only exists in the minds of the children's book author and his readers. Quite nice the DVD movie Neverwas decided to make a third way: 3) A combination of 1 and 2. |
I had never heard of this movie, then I realized that the DVD and had some good players, so what the heck - I rented it. It is absolutely amazing! An attractive and well-acted, with the moving story of a complex, multi-layered characters, great suspense, a pleasant and magical quality. It is a fairy tale, and like the fairy tales, it deals with some dark material. There is a profound irony that the author of a successful children's book, Tolkheinesque a runaway bestseller, which led to people of all ages hope he was deeply disturbed. And the child, the child model as the hero, saw the book as his nightmare in that never look. Then, in his desire to conquer his own inner dragons, opting to try to help others without hope - the chronically mentally ill. The process that finally finds the courage to reconcile with its past. It is also ironic and poignant that the chronic mental patient, played by Ian MacClellan in a role as Gandalf, has the information to cure psychiatrist. A small plot question bothered me: The book received huge royalties from the father, who inherited the psychiatrist, but never touched. It turned out that the history of ideas it is mentally ill, whom the father has never given credit. In all fairness the psychiatrist could have used at least some of the money to benefit the old - to buy land for him, creating a trust fund ... |
Zach Riley (Aaron Eckhart) is a talented young psychologist / psychiatrist who returns to his hometown to work in the mental institution. Dr. Reed, who runs the facility, which is skeptical by Dr. Riley leave his prestigious position and join an institution that has a little reputation. Dr. Riley visits his mother drunk and meets an old friend, a beautiful and well played Brittany Murphy. Gabriel Finch, a reluctant patient, surprisingly, is heated until Dr. Riley and begin therapy treatment to everyone's surprise. Soon learn, however, the agenda of everyone has one and everyone has secrets. Dr. Riley was the father of the troubled but brilliant author of a children's book called Neverwas, with a character named after the young Dr. Riley. The Neverwas Mystery film is a dark, sometimes fanciful stories surrounding Dr Riley, his father, and the patient mysterious Gabriel Finch together. The DVD film Neverwas is well acted, and the parties are equally unconvincing. However, the end is not what you expect and I was left empty, hoping that the movie: Neverwas had taken a different tact. Eckhart, as a tortured soul and vulnerable, is fantastic, a good time, his selfish / angry roles in previous films. Brittany Murphy is surprisingly elegant. Wait for the DVD. |
this is the kind of film: Neverwas u never forget .... like "the life and beauty" or "dancer in the dark ".... made me jealous of those who own land have a ... "live as a dream" ... amazing how easy it is to be happy and how much that sometimes make life ..... .... anyway I would like to thank all the players and people who worked to make .... this film: Neverwas because, although it made me mourn the first they were happy tears .... but the truth is that watching this carefully or get (I did anyway) an idea of what really matters in your life ... your dreams, your children (and the importance of remaining a child forever), family, love, friends. ... and most importantly .... YOU your own happiness, his own madness, his own pleasure in life ... and if that pleasure / happiness is to live in a world of their own realms and characters with stunning .. . ... so u are a special person ...... thank u:) |
This is a great movie! Joshua Michael put on the map, so to speak. Ian is his usual fantastic self Mckellar, and William Hurt, Alan Cumming as they are also fantastic. Michael Moriarty is back on screen after its interruption, and completely captivating. Cynthia Stevenson and Vera Farmiga are absolutely magnificent. All these great actors are playing a mental patient, and Ken Roberts, who plays Terrence - a surprisingly touching performance. Mr. Roberts and the script must be nominated. This Neverwas film is a surprise and a brilliant must see! Congratulations on everything, especially for Joshua Michael Stern, whose script is the best surprise of all, however, that weaves pathos, comedy and the human condition in a captivating, sometimes exciting job. It will pass as one of the "good old films" |
This is a small and quiet of the movies that you see a day because they have nothing better to do, and the plot sounds good but really have not heard much about. Then leave the theater wondering why everyone knows that has not gone to see it yet. Aaron Eckhart and Ian McKellen performances are easily pulling strong emotion to the movie, and throwing in enough humor to keep you interested. Nick Nolte, Jessica Lange, William Hurt, Brittany Murphy and leave all the big roles, without overshadowing the main actors. Alan Cumming, although its role is small, it really pulls at the heart strings with his portrait of a patient of the institution. Because this Neverwas film has very little (if any) advertising, I think this DVD movie Neverwas will do well based on word of mouth alone. Definitely a "hidden jewel." |
