| The message at the heart of Paul Haggis' fast 'is admirable and true: as human beings, we are all affected by racial bias and a tendency to stereotype those who are different from us, consciously or unconsciously, it degrades and distorts a large part of our relationship. Therefore, we are ennobled by overcoming our prejudices. I agree wholeheartedly with this message and I think it is worthy of respect. Unfortunately, in art, no matter how good is a message, mangling not justify the means used to express it. The media are a story and graphic. Strengths can sometimes save a weak plot and a compelling plot can sometimes weak supporting characters, but can not succeed when the history of these two elements are dysfunctional. In "shock", the characters are little more than collections of cultural attitudes: more kinds of characters that actual humans. That interact in a plot consisting of contributed very absurdly improbable coincidences. These coincidences converge on several dramatic scenes that are well performed by excellent actors, and sometimes even have a good dialogue to work. But since the characters are not fully developed, and many of the situations are so pat and unlikely, there is no truth in many of the critical scenes, and therefore there is no sympathy for the characters, and therefore no real drama. "Crash" has good intentions. In this case, which paved the way, if not mediocrity, then a fashionable suburb closer. |
| Is it me or did this "video" Hallmark-like production only win the best picture at the Oscars? Oh dear, the state of the nation must be even worse than I thought. Well, the good points. The acting is decent, if somewhat amateurish. The result is fantastic. The story is interesting and storytelling is not a dull moment. The first villain of the piece is the aspect of it. It's so Hallmarkish. I'm not sure why this is either due to the poor dialogue, or character due to the stereotypes - I do not believe that advertising, Hollywood stereotypes does not break into the film, just reinforced. However, the big bad is the idea of the film. After all, if you did not know that race relations are a complicated issue that must've come from another planet, populated by one race. Now, let's use the "chain reaction" and the "six degrees of separation" phenomena combined to show that well-known fact. Sounds intriguing? Of course. The problem is that the creators of "crash" to use this technique to the obvious, and that is very, very disappointing. Bottom line - there is not much to this film. You feel Hallmarkish, Hallmarkish look, and the ideas are so superficial as a puddle, despite developers' best efforts. See if they are really intrigued, but be prepared to be very disappointed. I can not understand why the won an Oscar. |
| This DVD film Crash is offensive PC, cliches and predictable. I could not imagine a film: Crash that best illustrates the myopic, narcissistic preachiness Hollywood today. If you have not seen this do not bother looking. If you have, show courage and tell people how it really is horrible. My wife, a minority in their own right, are offended by the racist and unendingly inherent message of the film. This Crash movie has nothing to do with the real world and has little or nothing to add to any discussion on racism in this country. Instead, the kind of cheap, sensationalist garbage that is promoted as the thought deep and hard. What kind of a bubble, do you think that living in this impressive at all? |
| We got it! Actually it! The world is full of racists! That would be a great message to send, if it were true. The fact of the matter is that not true. And suggesting that it is a fact of life and make everyone in the Crash movie unbearably hypocritical and over the top, I would say that the DivX Movie Crash itself is racist. The writing is helped, and all the way through it feels like a room full of rich white men sitting around eating Chinese food, writing about other cultures and hope that relate to them. Of course that had just been inspired by all the racist jokes that came to mind when the guy who did not speak English very well delivered their food. This Crash Drama movie does not deserve all the attention it is receiving. I can not help feeling offended and disgusted by this film. I was not even annoyed by the inconvenience, but it is a great example of everything that is wrong with the Hollywood Studio System. |
| This movie: Crash is undoubtedly much of a challenge for all those who think rather spoon fed. This series of improbable events has not happened since the last time the circus came to town. Some good, but not redeemed by the acting and full of holes designed dash. It is difficult to imagine how this ho-hum Crash film won so many good candidates for Best Picture. This award will go to the Academy as one of its most evil. This Crash film reminds me of the collection of praise for what I have just stopped going to see Hollywood movies. Pimp it too much for my taste. The very clear message of this Crash film is also the departure date. |
