When I saw the two stars that the NZ Herald has not discouraged me, because the same criticism was King Kong 5 stars, that was the worst DivX film River Queen I've seen all year! River Queen was a beautiful film. The representation of the musket wars of colonial New Zealand was excellent. The singular beauty of the landscapes of New Zealand was impressive, the music seems to be an amazing mix of Maori and Irish influence was very exciting, and added a large amount of energy of the River Queen Action film as a whole. The spectacular piece of music that was played just before the battles improved forecasting everything. I must also add that when the boy was just mesmerized by her voice that I did not realize he was singing an Irish song! I'd like to see the film: River Queen again just for that scene alone! I loved seeing the characters. I do not think the performance was brilliant, but the boy was superb in the scene where one to tell your mother, but the actors are attractive and pleasant to watch. I would recommend this DVD film River Queen if you enjoy breathtaking scenery, visual effects art with water and color, a good story based on history, and very well located and the use of original music, or if you enjoy learning the history of a unique culture that few people know. |
The best River Queen Action film by Vincent Ward, 25 years of unprecedented career. Always at your beautiful pictures (shot by Alun Bollinger, one of New Zealand as cameramen), adds a fascinating story not only about a mother's search for his lost son, but also a time of violence in the world 19 colonial history, when Maori and Pakeha are inextricably mixed on both sides of a war over land and racial misunderstanding. Removal of actions of the big players Maori Temuera Morrison and Cliff Curtis and Samantha Morton. Sensational action sequences should give this epic production, the greater use of hearings, as well as offering a wide range of historical themes for further debate. |
I just saw the Queen of the River today. Not as bad as the critics say. But not as good as could have been. The acting is good for drivers, Cliff Curtis demonstrates how world class and it is great to see Temuera Morrison to act again. And as an unpopular opinion, and I thought it could be Samantha Morton was very good. The cinematography is impressive and at times impressive. However, (we knew that there was a but.). The voice is really annoying and it seems just as obvious when the players just prefer to be allowed to show. I also found the first half hour or so really hard that apparently disjointed and felt more like a short film. The action sequences were well done and captured in battle and without the unstable handheld camera work that everyone is using these days. Overall the River Queen Action film is worth a look I'm sure everyone will have something for him. Note: If your fan of Kiefer Sutherland. He is really just there so they can put your name on the poster there is a lot of local players who could have played that role. |
A good example of reverse, the politically correct racism where white men are presented as mindless beasts that are there only to be massacred Aborigines and their opponents as noble heroes, superior in appearance and abilities. Apart from making history overally boring, it also prevents the neutral spectator who identifies with one or the other side - it is too simplified. The result is incredibly annoying repetitive (as is the voice-over), the characters lack depth and the viewer is soon lost among the questions as "Who is this character and what the hell does that mean." The photography is wonderful, however, and especially there is a lot of atmosphere, but a good cloud pictures of the scenery alone will not save this movie. Kiefer Sutherland uses the DVD as an eye-catcher. In fact, his character could have been played by someone else, because it is basically just an empty shell (as most non-Maori characters), and disappears about half the DVD movie River Queen anyway. But if you are anxious to see Jack Bauer in a kilt, that's your kind of DivX Movie River Queen ... |
Boy I do not like the Queen of the River. The scenery was stunning, magnificent, brilliant history, and the music was hauntingly beautiful game to an incredible movie. I always thought it would be great if a DVD film River Queen is set during the Maori war that was similar to Michael Mann of "The Last of the Mohicans." Well this is by Joffe nuances of "The Mission" to boot. He grabs the Queen River and noted that in a world that is only learned in history books. Not taking sides but what is beautiful and the ugly on both sides in the conflict. The chemistry between the main actors is powerful and moving and keeps the people in history to the fore, which was engulfed by stopping the powerful image of war. I always thought I would have our own Peter Jackson (Sir Peter should) make a DivX film River Queen of this quality in New Zealand and New Zealand. But I take my hat off to Vincent Ward. River Queen, there is an incredible depth of talent in DVD film River Queen making in this small country that blows again and again above its weight. |
