Retired FBI agent Will Graham (William L. Petersen) returns to action to hunt down a serial killer by using his ability to get inside the psychopath's mind. However, it was this ability that drove him into retirement in the first place. The process of tracking and capturing the infamous Hannibal Lecter (Brian Cox) took a tremendous psychic toll on Graham, causing him to spent time in a mental hospital. With another madman on the loose, Graham has no choice but to return to duty, though he knows that it might cost him his family and his sanity. \r\n\r\nTo get the old mind-set back, Graham visits Hannibal Lecter in his high-security jail cell. However, the manipulative Lecter plays both sides and warns the new killer that Graham is on his trail, telling him to destroy Graham's family to protect himself. In order to save his own family, Graham must risk everything to once again enter into the mind of the criminally insane. \r\n\r\nWith MANHUNTER, Mann raises the bar for serial killer films, imbuing his killer with an almost sympathetic quality while keeping him extremely menacing and clearly dangerous. Based on the Thomas Harris novel RED DRAGON, which serves as the prequel to THE SILENCE OF THE LAMBS, MANHUNTER is a masterpiece of gripping storytelling and psychological horror.

After I saw Hannibal on the opening day, I left the theater wanting to know more about "Hannibal Trilogy" followed known. So my brother told me if I wanted to see Manhunt, I had to read the book. So I read the book. It took me 4 weeks and a half to finish the book, but it was worth it. After reading it, I could not wait to see the film. I imagined what it would be one of the best films in history. But ... When I saw the film, Michael Mann, I was disappointed with the poor adaptation of a great book. The end was terrible, Will Graham was not fully explained, Hannibal Lector was not scared, was not as exciting as the book, and do not show the origin of the tooth fairy and how the Red Dragon painting could speak with him. I think a good director should remake the book Red Dragon, it is called Red Dragon, and not change anything in the book. I think it would be a good movie. I think Red Dragon was a better book SOTL, SOTL but had a better movie.
The FBI agent Graham (William Petersen, who have seen CSI), has captured the diabolical Dr. Hannibal Lecter or Lecktor (Brian Cox), nearly losing his mind more than anything in the process. But when Graham is called to the retirement in hunting psychopath known as "The Tooth Fairy (Tom Noonan in a Enternainment Weekly calls" one of the freakiest madmen Hollywood has given us ") must once again confront the horrors of "Hannibal the Cannibal." If Graham is entering the mind of a serial murderer, you may never return? Joan Allen (The opponent), Dennis Farina, Kim Greist, Stephen Lang co-star in this surprising thriller directed by Michael Mann and adapted from the novel Red Dragon by Thomas Harris. But beware: the fans, myself and critics consider to be much higher Manhunt The Silence of the Lambs ... and a murderer of the most disturbing series of films ever made. Enjoy. 10/10
Sure, that kind of looks like a long episode of MIAMI VICE, but once you get past that, you'll find one of the best thriller of the past 20 years. William Petersen is excellent as well as Graham. My favorite is the device How profile begins to address the causes of death in the third person ( "The house must have felt cool to him"), and then moved to the second ( "You were here and saw them ), but only when he allows himself to move to the first person ( "I come into the house") the solution becomes clear. It is a journey that will not do, but he knows the only way to find this kind before he kills again. Brian Cox as Lecter is excellent (you have to love the phone trick), it is too bad that was not done by Silence of the Lambs. He could have sent his career into overdrive. The best sequence is the analysis of the Tooth Fairy a letter of Lecter in the laboratory. See if you can detect all the current stars of television! Story 3: The father still lives and the late lamented Bletcher MILLENNIUM; Bulldog Frasier and Chris Elliott, Dogbert now voices in the animated series Dilbert!
"Manhunt" (1986) directed by Michael Mann - is a masterpiece, pure and simple. It took me five times, but finally I realized that. I see it as the best adaptation of a favorite book written on the subject of serial murderers and investigation of their crimes. Also discovered William Blake and his amazing art, including painting which gave the title of his book, "Red Dragon", thanks to Mr. Harris. Michael Mann certainly read the book "Red Dragon" before he began working in the DivX Movie Manhunter and was able to get into it, and the book's main character, Will Graham was able to get inside the mind of a murderer. The scene where Will Graham (William Peterson) discovers that the murderer makes me shiver every time I watch the movie. I can not recall another "moment of truth" as powerful and convincing as this. Is more powerful than the similar scene in "The Sound of the Lambs", where Clarise Starling in numbers and when the "Buffalo Bill" can be. Michael Mann took time to understand how it was important to the scene and received treatment in a real movie. I used to be disappointed that the book Mann cut very impressive ending, but after many viewings I understand why he did. For me, the whole DVD movie Manhunter was a combination of the "moment of truth" scene and then the murderer Graham figured that's what makes us participants in the process, it does not matter (at least for me) how to Francisco catch "Red Dragon" Dolarhyde.
This was the first look at Hannibal Lechter, but really did not have the impact of "The Silence of the Lambs" and the two films also deal with Lechter. The - "Hannibal" and "Red Dragon" (re-make of this film) - Anthony Hopkins has all the famous criminal. Hopkins' take on the character was so memorable, so fascinating that made it his own. This Manhunter film is not memorable Lechter. Few people can say that he played in this film. The answer: Brian Cox. That's not to say it's a bad movie. It is not, but it is not great shakes, either. The first half is very suspenseful, but the second half of the Manhunter Horror movie is disappointing. It is interesting to look back now to a young Bill Peterson at the helm. I used to watch CSI as a television star more mature "Gil Grissom". I saw this Manhunter Horror movie in 80 years before I knew Petersen, Cox, Hopkins and the rest ..... and was better. I regret to say, others simply have overshadowed the films of this effort.
How many times have we heard "The Manhunter movie is not as good as the book? Let's face it. What Manhunter Horror movie is it? Red Dragon is a masterpiece, and thus Manhunt. Appreciate that there are two issues. First, the Manhunter Horror film was created in 1986. It is stylish and looks slightly dated. The soundtrack is excellent, but again very early 1980s. Secondly, Red Dragon is not an easy book to write a screenplay. There is too much information that made the book so exciting to squeeze in 2 hours. The photograph, in particular, the intelligent use of light and color, is impressive. The choice of locations is also very deliberate. The scene where you are leaving the building after talking to Hannibal Lecter. They chose a building with a long spiral ramp down. The ramp is white, clinic. Running down the ramp is like those dreams where the bad man is chasing, and you can not leave. Addresses his heart, but I did not get very far. I agree that a Cox plays Lecter different but the book was not about Lecter. There was some mention Lecter, but this movie: Manhunter is a cameo. The way it goes about catching the murderer is as intelligent as Starling of the methods, if not more. Furthermore, we are treated to the thoughts, inner monologue, frustration and triumph of a hunter. Make no mistake, if you expect an update as a good film: Manhunter in all respects as the book, he was disappointed. If you are wise and you can not expect anything more than 2 hours of quality entertainment that you enjoy it.
sorry to all those who think Ralph Fiennes (still looking for someone to explain how that translates into fine rays, must be a trick, and please do not give me a lot of answers about what some English / foo little is English / whatever and your family seems to be the only thing out of this), but Tom Noonan nailed the red dragon. I read the book, I saw two movies, and I think Tom Noonan nailed. manhunt is so not a literal translation of the book. but for my money Tom Noonan is the character of a tee. catch all the nuances and gets them all rights. an image of their insularity, pathetic, lonely, with a speech problem is quite credible.
