| Friendship is one of those films that, when the credits roll you just sit there and think what a wonderful DVD film Amistad that is so well directed and well acted Amistad film I have seen. The performance is one of the best I have ever seen. Mathew McConaughue actions, Pete Postlethwaite and Morgan Freeman are brilliant, but seeing the performance of Anthony Hopkins and Djimon Hounson are excellent. The story is fascinating and poignant at the same time. The scenes on the ship Amistad were very painful and it really shows how the slave trade only repulsive but this adds to the beauty and realism of this fantastic film. A masterpeice. 9 out of 10. |
| (Contains spoilers) I seldom mourn in movies, but this is a Tearjerker, especially when people are chained and are outside the vessel, the manner in which a woman is screaming and crying before she goes to drown in the water. The other part is really when I gave birth to a girl and then died, and also when they were beaten by men. This Amistad History movie really shows the extent that people fear what they do not understand. |
| Friendship is a very well designed, well-acted and well told story. It is also true that most of the history of events surrounding the Amistad 'mutiny' and the defense of the Africans responsible for it by John Quincy Adams and a young lawyer named Baldwin. I put the word in quotes because riot is absurd to think of people struggling against the murder, enslavement and rape of any form of crime. The Amistad History film is shameless about showing us the brutality of covert and institutionalized the slave trade outrageousness that one pursued America's darkest, most reactionary periods, and not pull punches about the cultural differences among its victims, its perpetrators and those who felt that it was not their problem. Friendship is one of the best performances McConaughey, maybe his best. But almost all the cast is blown off the screen by the passionate, sensitive and profound exercise of Djimon Hounsou. Hopkins Adams is good, but what else is new? Although the Amistad movie does not have a literary sense - is pure cinema - is a really great story with a bold, simple and deep emotion that the audience Basa Alistar inches has a spirit that can only be described as true. Despite its detractors, Spielburg demonstrated time and again that morally decent movies with positive messages can be entertaining and artfully designed. Highly recommended. |
| This Amistad movie is so moving, I'm having problems getting the words to describe it. Needless to say, the direction of Spielberg is nothing short of spectacular. I was completely engrossed in the whole movie. The realism of the scenes in the slave ship eloquent. And the benefits provided by Matthew McConaughey and Anthony Hopkins are among the best in their respective careers. And Djimon Hounsou (Cinque) touched me the deepest core of my heart. The conversation between him and his friend about the Bible was particularly poignant. However, could continue for pages and still not say enough about this film. VERDICT: An emotional and heart wrenching Amistad History movie that has the power to move the hearts of the most cynical. Highly recommended for all. From 10.0 to 9.0 |
