| With 'The Sixth Sense "director M. mysteriously-named Night Shyalaman proved himself a master of certain types of atmospheric tension. Try to repeat the trick in "Signs", with partial success. The beginning of the movie: Signs is corny, but undeniably gripping, and manages to evoke any real moments of tension, despite the minimal use of special effects. The limitations of this Signs Mystery film lies in its structure. Aliens are invading earth, but the DVD movie Signs focuses entirely on a hole until the family (for any reason) in their own house in the country against the threat on its own. The movie: Signs therefore has a sense of a ghost story (isolated family terrorized and persecuted), and yet, while the whole earth was meant to be faced by the destruction, the fate of this family appears insignificant when set in its broader context. You can also grow tired of the shares of Shyalaman elements - too seriously loving family, beautiful, supernaturally aware of the child, the mysterious book that contains in some way at least some of the answers. Shyalaman certainly has an ability to do this kind of movie, but "The Sixth Sense" also had a plot that was surprising, and cleverly constructed enough to disguise their essential ridiculous. "Signs" obviously not, that does not mean that will make your skin can be seen as a creep, and more than once. |
| M. Night Shyamalan is my favorite director. All his films have inspired me to make my own. I absolutely loved my signs, each of his films. Signs have a really great cast: Mel Gibson, Joaquin Phoenix and, of course, M. Night Shyamalan. The photography in this movie: Signs is brilliant and the story line and acting BRIGHT BRILLAINT in all this is a brilliant film. The only flaw of this DVD film Signs is that I did not want to end, I loved his powerful final, since all wrapped together perfectly. This Signs film should have been to the Oscars, as well as all other of his films. I loved how the night is mixed with dashes of James Newton Howard powerful performance in each film. | I expect to see this movie. I liked Mel Gibson movies and my favorite genre is science fiction. However, the movie: Signs is strangely incomprehensible. Sometimes I thought it was too simplistic. Sometimes it seemed intense. I thought the performance was poor. It was amazing because of how the child appears to be too dependent of the father and the apparent stupidity of an alien race who do not recognize the state of water. And the predictable use of the history of baseball uncle was a problem. However, the Signs movie was the conclusion of care. |
