I saw this Blind Date Comedy film when he first arrived and I laughed out loud in many scenes and enjoyed it thoroughly. Both Bruce Willis and Kim Basinger are excellent and obvious comic chemistry between them. There is also a large number of lines and actions of the cast too, notably John Larroquette (Basinger psychotically obsessed with the old boyfriend). It was a complete mystery to me why he was so panne on release, but reading some of the comments here I am pleased that this little gem is finally get the recognition it deserves. Anything that will add dobermans, golf balls, and a moonwalking abject lesson in why you should never get drunk with his new girlfriend. |
I give this a six or seven. The first half of the Blind Date movie is a riot, with Kim Basinger and Bruce Willis doing a great job with the physical comedy. However, dragging the second half despite a robbery near the film's performance by William Daniels, as tart as ever. As mentioned in a previous review, the continuity of history encountered in several places, especially when the two main characters declare that they do not want to see each other and, without benefit of the whole development of the scenes, suddenly can not live without each other. It seems that part of the DVD movie Blind Date remains on the floor of the cutting. Unfortunately, this is an aspect of Blake Edwards' films (see the skin in depth, which is almost unintelligible). This film: Blind Date is no exception. However, if it comes on cable (pay channels only), can do much worse than Blind Date. |
Blind Date (1987) *** Bruce Willis, Kim Basinger, John Larroquette, William Daniels, Phil Hartman. Willis in his first DVD movie Blind Date in his "Moonlighting" hey days is facing the blind date from hell Basinger, a bomb that "losing control" with a drink of alcohol, causing a night of heavy slap-stick effects. Larroquette is a riot as her ex jealous zeal pinhead hellbent on the destruction of Willis. Somewhat better car Larroquette destruction. Talented as directed by Blake Edwards. |
One of my favorite comedies of the 80. Many very funny and memorable scenes. This is a fun, happy film: Blind Date about a blind date gone wrong. Of course, anything can happen on this date occurs, and many laughs are the result. The best scene is when Nadia and Walter go to a restaurant after Nadia has drunk too much. Apparently she has some kind of chemical imbalance of liquor, and things go crazy in front of business associates of Walter. |
